Have you noticed that people who have ruled out all possibility of magic are a bit… depressed? And even, dare I say it – depressing?
Please note that I didn’t say, “People who don’t believe in magic.”
No. What I mean instead is people who have declared either with actual words or with their whole energy and demeanor that magic is childish fantasy or wishful thinking or “incompatible with the laws of physics.”
I’ve met these people. They say:
You have to face facts.
That would be nice, but obviously, there’s no such thing.
Get your head out of the clouds!
What you see is what you get.
And most tragically:
This is all there is.
The only thing to do with these people is give them a kiss on the cheek and go on your merry way. For both you and I know their secret:
They yearn to believe.
And our job, magical friends, is to keep seeing the invisible and loving the beautiful and dancing with the mysteries to make it a little easier for them to sidle up and take a handful of sparkles.
Our job is to stand by patiently while they tentatively blow fairy dust into their lives and watch in wonder as one thing after another lights up.
Our job is to cheer when they cease yearning and start enchanting.
It’s lovely to see.
And it’s never too late for dreams and dancing!
PS – It’s not too late to join us in Welcome Home to Irish. We have a lovely class gathered and we’d love to have you!
