Today, I have a little “set” of proverbs for you, all having to do with what it means to be a beginner and how we can best view that stage on the journey. These are the three proverbs I give to my Irish students at the first class of the term to help them frame the learning they are about to undertake. It doesn’t matter how old we are; we are always beginners in some aspect of life and these proverbs remind us that kindness and encouragement is the magic that will ensure growth and flourishing. I lean into these proverbs any time the work ahead looks daunting and I doubt myself. May they steady you, too!
