I’m very inspired by the idea of the “thought store”* and on a grumpy, anxious day recently, wrote this little piece in my journal and changed my whole day:
I closed my eyes and entered The Thought Store. I carried my needless anxiety – a black garment with scratchy lace – and marched up to the clerk. “I’d like to return this,” I said.
“Of course,” he answered warmly. “I’ll just hang it up,” and here he moved to a rack of tortured-looking, funereal clothes, “and you can select something that suits you better.”
I looked around, feeling that excitement and expansiveness that comes of perfect freedom to choose what I really want, and my eye fell on a cream-colored floor-length gown. It fairly glowed. “Fairy Queen clothes,” I sighed with pleasure, reaching for it. “Love, confidence, pleasure, magic.”
No sooner had I touched it than I felt utterly transformed – delighted and suffused with love and enchantment. I was wearing it and it felt like it was made for me. A perfect fit.
And with a word of thanks and a radiant smile, I sailed out the door into a very different day than the one I’d dressed for before remembering that The Thought Store is always open, and best of all: everything is FREE.
*This idea is discussed by Tonya Leigh and Brian Tracy in their podcasts and books which are well-worth checking out!
